The worst performers of the session were Yokogawa Electric Corp. (T:), which fell 3.19% or 67.0 points to trade at 2035.0 at the close. Japan Tobacco Inc (T:) declined 3.18% or 79.5 points to end at 2423.0 and Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:) was down 3.09% or 35.0 points to 1098.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2287 to 1210 and 218 ended unchanged.

USD/JPY was up 0.25% to 107.44, while EUR/JPY rose 0.29% to 122.14.
