Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the declined 1.14%, while the index declined 1.15%.

The best performers of the session on the were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:), which rose 7.55% or 23.10 points to trade at 326.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:) added 1.09% or 14.00 points to end at 1299.40 and Lupin Ltd (NS:) was up 1.45% or 11.95 points to 830.75 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:), which fell 17.88% or 32.70 points to trade at 150.70 at the close. Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:) declined 6.91% or 45.05 points to end at 613.90 and Vedanta Ltd (NS:) was down 5.41% or 8.85 points to 154.15.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:) which rose 0.95% to 1295.55, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) which was up 0.85% to settle at 313.60 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which gained 0.46% to close at 1065.90.

The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:) which was down 17.28% to 151.30 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:) which lost 13.72% to settle at 81.45 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:) which was down 5.75% to 154.05 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1074 to 508 and 61 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1524 fell and 917 advanced, while 121 ended unchanged.

Shares in Tata Motors Ltd (NS:) fell to 5-year lows; falling 17.88% or 32.70 to 150.70. Shares in Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:) fell to 52-week lows; losing 6.91% or 45.05 to 613.90. Shares in Vedanta Ltd (NS:) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.41% or 8.85 to 154.15. Shares in Tata Motors Ltd (BO:) fell to 5-year lows; down 17.28% or 31.60 to 151.30. Shares in Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:) fell to 3-years lows; down 13.72% or 12.95 to 81.45. Shares in Vedanta Ltd (BO:) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.75% or 9.40 to 154.05.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.86% to 15.5675.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.06% or 0.75 to $1314.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.19% or 0.10 to hit $52.54 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.24% or 0.15 to trade at $61.78 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.14% to 71.213, while EUR/INR fell 0.16% to 80.7450.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 96.370.
