Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the lost 0.55%, while the index declined 0.46%.

The best performers of the session on the were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:), which rose 2.61% or 3.90 points to trade at 152.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:) added 2.29% or 6.15 points to end at 274.00 and NTPC Ltd (NS:) was up 1.50% or 2.00 points to 135.05 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:), which fell 3.70% or 13.30 points to trade at 346.05 at the close. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:) declined 2.86% or 81.25 points to end at 2752.70 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:) was down 2.42% or 54.30 points to 2183.10.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.28% to 152.75, NTPC Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.47% to settle at 135.00 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.19% to close at 165.90.

The worst performers were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:) which was down 3.08% to 2754.95 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which lost 2.58% to settle at 1082.55 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which was down 2.58% to 2182.45 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 932 to 663 and 60 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1405 fell and 1054 advanced, while 167 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.13% to 15.6275 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.27% or 3.65 to $1331.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.18% or 0.63 to hit $52.62 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.31% or 0.80 to trade at $60.48 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.34% to 69.316, while EUR/INR rose 0.35% to 78.0040.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.00% at 97.058.
