Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the lost 0.53%, while the index fell 0.43%.

The best performers of the session on the were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:), which rose 5.83% or 10.75 points to trade at 195.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Infosys Ltd (NS:) added 2.60% or 17.80 points to end at 701.90 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:) was up 1.60% or 7.10 points to 450.85 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Wipro Ltd (NS:), which fell 4.93% or 16.20 points to trade at 312.55 at the close. GAIL Ltd (NS:) declined 3.96% or 13.40 points to end at 324.90 and Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:) was down 3.27% or 26.70 points to 790.95.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:) which rose 6.22% to 195.40, Infosys Ltd (BO:) which was up 2.52% to settle at 700.90 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which gained 1.68% to close at 450.65.

The worst performers were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.64% to 1334.00 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which lost 2.07% to settle at 1484.05 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.78% to 193.05 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1014 to 571 and 67 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1450 fell and 1004 advanced, while 157 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.24% to 16.1575.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.41% or 5.25 to $1294.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.82% or 0.94 to hit $50.65 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.65% or 1.00 to trade at $59.48 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.56% to 70.781, while EUR/INR rose 0.47% to 81.0975.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 95.252.
