Meanwhile, Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:) added 3.07% or 42.70 points to end at 1436.45 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:) was up 2.89% or 593.75 points to 21032.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:), which fell 7.89% or 20.45 points to trade at 237.55 at the close. Yes Bank Ltd (NS:) declined 5.37% or 2.75 points to end at 48.30 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:) was down 6.12% or 45.45 points to 705.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) which rose 3.31% to 372.45, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:) which was up 3.12% to settle at 1436.25 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which gained 2.09% to close at 1118.55.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:) which was down 5.76% to 48.30 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:) which lost 4.65% to settle at 262.70 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was down 3.78% to 1282.20 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 893 to 661 and 71 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1318 fell and 1036 advanced, while 149 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:) fell to 5-year lows; falling 7.89% or 20.45 to 237.55. Shares in Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.07% or 42.70 to 1436.45. Shares in Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:) rose to all time highs; rising 3.12% or 43.40 to 1436.25.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.24% or 3.55 to $1492.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.52% or 0.29 to hit $55.68 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.31% or 0.19 to trade at $60.98 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.42% to 71.015, while EUR/INR rose 0.39% to 79.0115.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 97.287.
