Disney+ is giving fans another “Star Wars” fix in February — but it may be the last one for a while.
With the first season of the spinoff series “The Mandalorian” over and “The Rise of Skywalker,” the final installment of the nine-film saga, nearing the end of its theatrical run, Walt Disney Co.’s
fledgling streaming service is resurrecting the beloved animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” for one final season. “Clone Wars” aired for six seasons on cable, but has been dormant since 2014. But Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and his padawan, Ahsoka Tano, will fight Darth Maul and the evil Separatists for one last hurrah starting Feb. 21, dropping one episode a week after that.
Another animated series, “Star Wars: Resistance,” which just ended its second and final season on the Disney Channel, is also coming to Disney+, dropping all of its episodes at once on Feb. 25. That’ll have to suffice for “Star Wars” fans for a while, since “The Mandalorian” won’t return until the end of the year, at the earliest, and the upcoming spinoff series starring Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi has paused production, likely delaying its release.
Luckily, Disney has more than “Star Wars” in its arsenal. Also coming to DIsney+ in February: “Toy Story 4” (Feb. 5); the classic kids movie “The Sandlot” (Feb. 1); “Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made” (Feb. 7), a movie about an 11-year-old detective based on the popular children’s book series; and the reality competition series “Shop Class” (Feb. 28), hosted by Justin Long.
