The worst performers of the session were Via Varejo SA (SA:), which fell 5.84% or 0.35 points to trade at 5.64 at the close. Cielo SA (SA:) declined 4.61% or 0.54 points to end at 11.18 and Itau Unibanco Banco Holding SA (SA:) was down 4.26% or 1.69 points to 38.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 219 to 195 and 41 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.06% or 0.85 to $1318.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.50% or 0.82 to hit $53.74 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.76% or 0.80 to trade at $104.80 .
USD/BRL was down 0.00% to 3.6685, while EUR/BRL fell 0.24% to 4.1856.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 95.812.
