Asian markets were little changed in early trading Tuesday, as investors awaited further developments in U.S.-China trade talks.
Japan’s Nikkei
was up slightly while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index
was about flat. The Shanghai Composite
slipped 0.2% and the Shenzhen Composite
fell 0.5%. South Korea’s Kospi
rose 0.1% while benchmark indexes in Taiwan
, Singapore
, Malaysia
and Indonesia
were mixed. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200
fell 0.2%.
Among individual stocks, Rakuten
and Inpex
rose in Tokyo trading. Casino operator Galaxy Entertainment
and Apple component maker Sunny Optical
fell in Hong Kong. SK Hynix
slipped in South Korea while Foxconn
sank in Taiwan. BHP
gained in Australia while Virgin Australia
dipped.
